Scriptures For
Spiritual Preparation

In the presence of God and of Christ Jesus,
who is to judge the living and the dead,
and in view of his appearing and his kingdom,
I solemnly urge you:
proclaim the message;
be persistent whether the time is favorable or unfavorable;
convince, rebuke, and encourage, with the utmost patience in teaching.

For the time is coming when people will not put up with sound doctrine,
but having itching ears, they will accumulate for themselves
teachers to suit their own desires, and will turn away from listening to the truth
and wander away to myths.

As for you, always be sober, endure suffering,
do the work of an evangelist, carry out your ministry fully.
2 Timothy 4:1-5

"I am eager to encourage you in your faith,
but I also want to be encouraged by yours.
In this way, each of us will be a blessing to the other."
Romans 1:12 [NLT]

"May God be gracious to us and bless us and make his face shine upon us,
That your ways may be known on earth, your salvation among all nations.
«»
May the peoples praise you, O God; may all the peoples praise you.
May the nations be glad and sing for joy,
For you rule the peoples justly and guide the nations of the earth.
«»
May the peoples praise you, O God; may all the peoples praise you.
Then the land will yield its harvest, and God, our God, will bless us.
«»
God will bless us, and all the ends of the earth will fear him."
Psalm 67 [NIV]

"Bless them and say:
The Lord bless you and keep you;
The Lord make His face shine on you,
And be gracious to you;
The Lord lift up His countenance on you,
And give you peace"
Numbers 6:23-26

"Cast your burden upon the Lord,
He will sustain you.
He will never allow the righteous to be shaken."
Psalms 55:22

"God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.
Therefore we will not fear, though the earth should change and though the mountains slip into the heart of the sea."
Psalms 46:1-2

"When I am afraid, I will put my trust in You."
Psalms 56:3

"For God has not given us a spirit of timidity,
but of power and love and discipline"
2 Timothy 1:7

"But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God,
who gives to all generously and without reproach, and it will be given to him.
But he must ask in faith without any doubting,
for the one who doubts is like the surf of the sea,
driven and tossed by the wind.
For that man ought not to expect that he will receive anything from the Lord,
being a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways."
James 1:5-8

"But he who listens to me shall live securely
and will be at ease from the dread of evil."
Proverbs 1:33

"Those who wait for the LORD will gain new strength;
they will mount up with wings like eagles,
they will run and not get tired,
they will walk and not become weary."
Isaiah 40:31

"Trust in the LORD with all your heart
and do not lean on your own understanding.
In all your ways acknowledge Him,
and He will make your paths straight."
Proverbs 3: 5 & 6

"Greater is He who is in me than he who is in the world."
1 John 4:4

Are you right with God?

The above are taken (ie, a direct quote or a paraphrase) from the
New American Standard Bible [NASB], unless otherwise indicated.

— Other versions used are —
Living Bible [LB]; New Living Translation [NLT]; King James Version [KJV]; New King James Version [NKJV]; Revised Standard Version [RSV]; and New International Version [NIV].

Each of these versions are inspired, accurate and not in conflict on any essential truth or concept. They represent different approaches to interpreting the same thing. They range from word for word tranlations, to sentence/paragraph paraphrase translations. Some verses are easier to understand than other versions, and some translations benefit from more recent scholarship. For example, you may find that you prefer a modern version because it is more clear and easier to understand as it is written in more commonly used English. On the other hand, the poetic beauty of the King James Version is without compare.

Each of these are excellent translations of the Bible, and from among these various versions,
our Lord reveals Himself more fully and completely.
And isn't that our very goalto more fully and completely know our Lord?
